Regarding the old board's honestly more freewheeling style, I'd say the Sludge/EZBoard wars most likely made people less likely to engage in that sort of thing. Y'know, overkill and all that sort of shit.

What I loved about the Johnny Carson show is that it was real...no editing....What you saw is what you got...Screw ups, mishaps, and etc.....it was all there.
I remember as a kid staying up late with parents watching Johnny, laughing at Burt Reynolds pranks and Jimmy Stewart stumbling through poems. Seeing Letterman for the first time as a standup.
Sad to see him go.

As for the touchy topic stuff, remember, no matter how much you want to say the board has changed and can't tale the tough topics, this is the same place that almost ran a poster off for questioning another posters sexuality, on the OLD board. Things are always a little "stuffy" from people when it comes to jokes about death (though we let Raggz run crazy with OD jokes and slams when they happen), politics, sexuality, and all of the other social "hot buttons", it has nothing to do with a new or old board.
